Visiting Pembrokeshire in September

September has arrived and whilst the school summer holidays have ended, it feels as though it is the adults turn to pack their bag and escape to the seaside. With 52 beautiful empty beaches to chose from and the weather still reaching 20 degrees, it is the perfect time to take a holiday to Wales.

If, unlike me, you require a little extra convincing when deciding on whether to head to Penally Abbey for a few days this September, then here are a number of incredibly valid reasons as to why you should!

It is still nearly 20 degrees here most days meaning it is ideal walking, exploring and sipping cold wine on the terrace weather.
The media is telling us that summer is over, but from where I’m sitting, there is plenty more sea swimming, walking and basking on the beach to be done.

The children have gone back to school and many people are back to work which means that our beautiful beaches are empty and the roads are quiet.

Every year, when September comes around, we take to the woods with the dogs in tow and go blackberry, damson and apple picking for the hotel kitchen. This year after the long hot summer, the blackberries are better than ever.
Rich, Rachael and Josh will be cooking up a storm as we descend on the kitchen with endless foraged treasures.

Not only are the beaches empty but they become dog friendly again! Restrictions are lifted, and dogs can run free.

IRONMAN WALES | Sunday 9th September

The world famous sporting event returns to Tenby and Pembrokeshire and is reknowned to be one of the toughest races in the entire world. It is a trecherous challenge which begins with a 2.5 mile swim in Tenby, followed by a 112 mile bike ride and a casual marathon to finish. The support has grown over the years from local businesses, local spectators and everyone in between. The restaurants in Tenby pull out all the stops and it is a day that can be enjoyed by everyone. One not to miss!

Many of our guests will have spoken or met Lizzie, one of our wonderful receptionists here at Penally Abbey.

Despite being a customer liaison officer extraordinaire, first and foremost she is an extremely talented artist.

We are SO excited to be holding her first exhibition here at the hotel in two weeks time.
The exhibition will be up for a week so please do come along and take a look at her magical work!
