Christmas in Tenby 2015

Image title

Whether you join us for a well-earned break or a wonderful evening in our restaurant this December, Tenby and South Pembrokeshire make for a pleasantly peaceful destination late in the year. What you won’t find are huge stores packed to the rafters with tinsel and turkey, along with a scrum of Millennium Stadium proportions. But for a more laid back shopping experience, or simply a welcome escape from the usual shenanigans, the area is ideal.

We also still have spaces for private events and gatherings, should you want to celebrate with delicious seasonal dishes in the company of friends or colleagues. Or why not treat yourself to a special break package or late getaway? We cannot guarantee peace on earth and goodwill to all men, but Pembrokeshire is a good start. Here are some events and local excursions also worth a look this December:

Tenby Christmas Shopping and Santa Run (Various Dates in December 2015): With so many great little independent stores in one pretty location, Tenby is a fine spot for some covert Christmas shopping in Pembrokeshire, minus the crowds and tacky bits. You’ll find an especially good selection of local arts, crafts, vintage fare and local produce. Tenby Market stays open six days a week throughout the winter and is also well worth a browse as the big day approaches. Or to step back in time to several centuries ago, the Tudor Merchant's House still opens at weekends and sports some very different Christmas decorations.

Should you be in Tenby for Sunday 13th December, you might wonder if you are having a strange daydream as the town is invaded by multiple Father Christmas lookalikes in the Tenby Santa Run. Besides raising a sweat in those cosy red suits, the volunteers also raise lots of vital funds for local charities (See the Facebook Page for more details).

Christmas at Carew Castle (6th December 11am - 3pm)
What could be more perfect than a historic castle in its winter splendour? How about mulled wine, a special Carol Service and a range of local craft and gift stalls? This is a lovely site to explore at any time of year, but makes an even more welcome detour this December, with plenty for both kids and grownups. Click here for further details

Market & Lantern Parade at Saundersfoot (4th - 6th December)
If the beautiful coastal scenery were not enough reason alone for a winter visit to this lovely location, a gathering of sixty stalls, live entertainment and more should get you into the festive mood. Lots to see here, including an appearance from Santa to keep the little ones happy. Do stay around as it gets dark for a special lantern parade too. Click here for further details

Tenby Boxing Day Swim (North Beach 10:30am)
Are you feeling brave? Even the most diehard fan of Tenby could not claim that the sea is a very pleasant temperature for a swim at this time of year. But this does not stop a gang of intrepid nutters from taking a dip - if nothing else, is a good way to burn a few Christmas calories! A more comfortable way to enjoy this “character-building” spectacle is from dry land, where more sane visitors are welcome to watch the action.
